The final chapter is Varanasi — one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities and the spiritual heart of Hinduism. A dawn boat ride on the Ganges passes the ancient ghats as priests perform their morning rituals and pilgrims take their sacred baths. The evening Ganga Aarti — fire, chanting, and floating lamps — is a transcendent experience. Explore the Mughal heart of Old Delhi. Begin at the Red Fort — a UNESCO World Heritage site and the Mughal empire's greatest fortification in red sandstone. Visit Jama Masjid (one of South Asia's largest mosques), Raj Ghat (Gandhi's memorial), and experience the controlled chaos of Chandni Chowk with a classic rickshaw ride through the spice, silver, and saree lanes.
Discover New Delhi's monumental scale. Qutub Minar — the world's tallest brick minaret (73m, 12th century). Humayun's Tomb — the architectural forerunner of the Taj Mahal, surrounded by formal Mughal gardens. India Gate — a vast war memorial at the axis of Lutyens' imperial city. Drive past Rashtrapati Bhavan and Parliament before a final afternoon stroll through the garden boulevards of central New Delhi.
After breakfast, check out and drive southwest to Jaipur (5–6 hours). Arrive and check in to your heritage hotel. Evening free for a gentle introduction to the city — the walled old city's terracotta-pink streets, rooftop cafés, and the first glimpse of Hawa Mahal's extraordinary facade lit at dusk.
A full day in Jaipur. Amber Fort at first light before the day-tripper coaches arrive. The royal City Palace (still home to the Maharaja of Jaipur). Jantar Mantar — a UNESCO World Heritage astronomical observatory containing the world's largest sundial. The Hawa Mahal's extraordinary 953-windowed screen facade. Evening: Johari Bazaar's gem merchants and Bapu Bazaar's block-print textiles.
Drive east toward Agra, stopping at Fatehpur Sikri — Emperor Akbar's magnificent ghost city built in 1571 and abandoned within 15 years. The Buland Darwaza (Gate of Victory), Jama Masjid, and Tomb of Salim Chishti are extraordinary. In Agra, visit the imposing Agra Fort and Itimad-ud-Daulah's Tomb before a rooftop dinner with Taj Mahal views.
Rise early for the Taj Mahal at dawn. Return to your hotel for breakfast and checkout. Transfer to Agra's Kheria airport (or Lucknow) for your flight to Varanasi. Arrive in time for the evening Ganga Aarti ceremony at Dashashwamedh Ghat — an unforgettable first encounter with the soul of this ancient city. Watch as priests perform the elaborate fire ritual with synchronised movements and chanting, as floating lamps drift out onto the dark river.
Rise before dawn for a boat ride on the Ganges as the city wakes — the most remarkable morning in Indian travel. Glide past the ancient ghats where priests perform morning pujas, pilgrims bathe in the sacred waters, and the city's 3,000-year-old spiritual life unfolds before your eyes. Return for breakfast, then explore the narrow lanes of the old city — past ancient temples, flower sellers, and silk weavers.
Afternoon: drive to Sarnath — just 12 km from Varanasi — where the Buddha delivered his first sermon after attaining enlightenment, 2,500 years ago. The Dhamek Stupa, the Ashoka Pillar, and the excellent Archaeological Museum make this one of Buddhism's four most sacred sites. Evening at leisure.
A final morning in Varanasi — perhaps one more walk along the ghats at dawn before transferring to Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport for your departure flight. The tour concludes in Varanasi, or you can continue onward to Delhi for your international connection. Our team will ensure a smooth transfer and timely departure.

The most time-efficient way is a short domestic flight from Agra's Kheria Airport (or Lucknow if connecting) to Varanasi's Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport. We arrange this in advance and include it in your quote. Alternatively, you can travel by train — several services connect Agra to Varanasi, and a first-class rail journey is a wonderful Indian experience in itself.
